Roland Krammer is one of an elite group of engineers to surface in recent generations. Like many that find their way to the highest level of audio engineering, his past is checkered with technical accomplishments and musical study.  He first began by apprenticing as a tool maker at a very tender age.  Shortly thereafter he attended the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz.  His major was in drums and vibraphone, but it didn't take long to see that he possessed a unique mind for things technical.  At first he learned the properties and uses of transistors, shortly thereafter he began adapting existing circuits, but by the early 80s was writing his own.  Thereafter came time sequence controllers, work with microprocessors, program logic, and finally advanced FPGAs.  While working for large industrial electronics firms, he would moonlight making mixing boards and doing the sound for various live concerts around Austria.  From 1986 to 2005, he was a top call man for any electrical and computer oriented industrial work.  His rare is a working knowledge of several technical genres and how they inter-relate in the physical world. His CV is frightening to those of us who lack such leanings.  It is simply one achievement after another.  Thankfully for us, the listening public, in 2009 he formed Crayon Audio GmbH.

We contend that his circuit design is among the finest in the world.  Its brilliance can be traced from his entry level products to his stunningly constructed CMA-2 Mono Blocks.

Roland and Crayon create one of the most beautifully delineated, easeful and spacious portrayals of music we have encountered.  This is music.  This is Crayon.  website
